THE FONDA
A familiar place to eat. A place to stay. That is what a fonda has always been.
Set in an old country house with traditional Menorcan architecture dating from the late XVIII century.
Since 1983 S’Engolidor has welcomed artists, poets, kings and many more travellers who have helped shape the essence of what the Fonda is today. Hospitality with attention to detail, local produce and friendly, family-style service.

Nº 03 / FRIENDS OF THE HOUSE SINCE 1983
Some arrived as guests.
Some came for dinner.
Some stayed a little longer.
Years passed, and many kept coming back.
They return every summer, every winter, sometimes after many years. What began as a room, a table or a chance encounter became something else: friendships, familiar faces and stories shared across generations.
(58 was the former street number of this house. A number that welcomed travellers, neighbours and friends, and that keeps their memory alive today in the name of Club 58. Discover Club 58)
They are no longer simply guests of S’Engolidor.
They are part of the Fonda.
Part of the house.
Part of its history.

F — Fonda
Official classification · Menorca
Since 1983, S’Engolidor has kept alive a way of understanding the fonda that has almost disappeared. We are Menorca’s only and last remaining fonda: a house where people still come to eat, stay and share a table without hurry. The years, faces and seasons have changed, but not what brought us here: hospitality, food cooked slowly and the simple pleasure of welcoming people as it has always been done on this island. As long as there is a table set, a pot on the fire and someone walking through the door, the fonda will live on.
